The next visit of the delegation of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in
an expanded format to the city of Shusha has begun today. The visits which are
organized by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations
will last 3 days. A total of 500 people will participate in these events daily,
including 150 representatives of NGOs, also bloggers, and social activists.
Vusal Guliyev, the head of the sector of the Department for Work with
Non-Governmental Organizations and Communications of the Presidential
Administration, said that the visits of NGOs to the territories liberated from
the occupation are organized on a regular basis.
In the territories they visit, they get acquainted with the settlements and
cultural-historical examples destroyed as a result of the heavy consequences of
the occupation, and the genocide committed against the material, cultural and
historical heritage of the Azerbaijani people.
Vusal Guliyev especially emphasizing President Ilham Aliyev's declaration of
2022 as the "Year of Shusha" in Azerbaijan, also noted the importance
of events carried out in Shusha by individual NGOs
Mr. Guliyev noted that the visit to Shusha, which started today, is the 12th visit of NGOs to the Karabakh region. To date, more than 800 NGO representatives have visited Shusha alone, and more than 1,500 NGO representatives have visited Karabakh.
