Azerbaijan’s Shusha and the Türkiye’s Erzurum fraternized.
For this purpose, a protocol on sister cities was signed between Shusha City
State Reserve Department and Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality.
The document was signed by Maftun Abbasov, Chairman of
the Management Board of Shusha City State Reserve Department, and Mehmet
Sekmen, Head of Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, who was on a visit to
Erzurum.
After the event, a meeting was held with Governor of
the Erzurum Okay Memish.

State Reserve Maftun Abbasov noted that the signing of the sister cities
protocol for the first time with Erzurum is of special importance.
He said that the city of Shusha was declared the
cultural capital of Azerbaijan this year by the Decree of the Supreme
Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev.
Next year, the city of Shusha was declared the
cultural capital of the Turkic world by the decision of TURKSOY. Therefore, it
is important to establish cultural, political and economic relations with
Erzurum, which is considered one of the centers of the Turkic world.
Erzurum Governor Okay Memiş noted that Shusha has a
special place in the hearts of the entire Turkic world and said that starting
any event and joint activities with dear Shusha is an important mission for the
governorship.
Later, a meeting was held between Maftun Abbasov and the rectors of Erzurum Atatürk University and Erzurum Technical University. The meeting discussed in detail the exchange of experience.
