Avaz Ahmadov is 66 years old. He was a unit commander in the Shusha territorial self-defense battalion. Avaz Ahmadov, whose real profession is an oil and gas engineer, was closely involved in supplying Shusha with gas. When the Armenians attacked Shusha, they took up arms and fought. When Shusha was occupied, when everyone took out the necessary things, he also took the pigeons.

He says that the difference between Shusha pigeons and other pigeons we know is the black spots on their necks:

“We left Shusha on May 8, 1992. When I left Shusha, I managed to take 27 of the pigeons. However, difficulties arose when passing through Daşaltı. Desperate, I opened the boxes and let the pigeons fly away. My friend Kamran and I came to the village of Zarisli through the forest. When we reached the village in the early morning, in the dark, I saw that the car that took us out of Shusha was in the village. Pigeons are flying next to the car. This was the creator's message to me. Although there were difficult days, this event made me happy”.

Avaz Ahmadov says that they came to Ismayilli first. He was able to bring only 14 of the pigeons safely to Baku because they often changed their place of residence:

“14 pigeons I brought from Shusha died after hatching. It seems that they could not get used to the air of Baku. But it's good that the cubs remained. 50 Shusha pigeons were bred from them. These pigeons reminded me of Shusha. Now my biggest wish is to take these pigeons to Shusha and fly them there”.
